The Host

Hey, I'm Elliot.

I'm a 30 year old Australian living in London. Outside of history, I love travelling (i've visited around 45 countries) and playing video games.

I had the idea for this podcast a few years ago when I learnt the story of Skanderbeg, the Albanian hero who held back the Ottomans in the 15th century.

From there, I came across the story of The Last Byzantine Emperor Constantine XI and Roman Emperor Aurelian.

Slowly, I began to discover that almost every country had a national hero who was well known domestically, yet relatively unknown internationally.

My goal of the podcast is to share those stories.

I've got no degree in history, but I do have the patience to pour over dry source material from the middle ages in order to bring you stories of the epic, the tragic and the downright bizarre.

So please, sit back, relax and enjoy the show!
